STRIP CLUBS ARE A-O.K. IN ST. LAZARE...BUT FARMS...NOT SO MUCH.

Dear fellow people who are annoyed with the idiocy of the regulations governing the St. Lazare municipal government,
Wow...that was long. Probably because there is a linear relationship between the size of the intro and the number of people who are actually annoyed.

I recently came into contact with a property in a very popular location of St. lazare. It is a quaint old farm house with a reparable barn and 200,000 square feet of land. The location could be better, but with a little love, this could be an amazing property. In fact, it greets the visitors as they come off one of the exits in St. lazare. It should hail everyone who visits here, and give them an adorable introduction to our equestrian town.

But no. The Town of St. lazare advised my friends that in fact this property was not PERMITTED as an equestrian property, although it used to be. Instead, it could be alternately transitioned into a restaurant, Bar or STRIP JOINT.

You have GOT to be kidding me?

So this would mean that, once a regulation is created, folks in government stop asking if it makes any sense...they just follow it like automatons just trying to get through their tiresome days.

Well cry me a river. Seems to me that your job is to review, rewrite and RETHINK. My new little idiom...the three R's.

Who is wearing the brain in council this week?

Follow List of all the positive things Mayor Carzoli and his council did for us...

OK I have an update on what the Mayor and his ineffectual council have done for me lately! I know you're all excited. I will create a detailed list of their many actions below...

Do you hear crickets?? I hear crickets.

I can't wait for the elections Mr. Mayor. I am going to ensure the demise of your self-serving, bureaucratic nightmare of a government. The wheels are already turning...and it's going to be a fabulous. I love it when the bad guys loose.

Oh and on a more juvenile note and follow-up from our enlightening conversation in your office...I can't wait to say...TOLD YA SO.

peace,

Nightmare

NEIGH-bours...

I guess I'm glad in a way to know it's not just me who gets harassed by neighbours who don't have the decency to knock on your door and talk about something that may be bothering them. I'm glad to know it's not just me who feels observed and negatively judged. But I'm very disspointed it's happening to such a nice family who does nothing but try to help, care for their family and live a good life. Disappointed but surely not surprrised. This is St. Lazare after all.

Once again, someone in the bizarre subculture that exists in this potentially lovely little town has discovered that they have nothing better to do than to "report" a horse owner for leaving their horses outside. I know for a fact that this person does bring in her horses when the weather demands it. It is their judgement call however as to when that might happen. Not yours.

So in the meantime, neighbours think these poor horses are living in such dire circumstances because they aren't being treated like human children. They are being treated like horses. I for one know for a fact that horses appreciate being treated like horses.

I would like to make two important points here. A challenge to all of you...

1- if you have a concern with a neighbour, for God's sake...have some COURAGE people! Go knock on their door and talk to them! I'm sure you will find the reception allot warmer than you imagine. Oh and if the issue is none of your business...then it's none of your business.

2- If you know a neighour is having a hard time ...BE A DECENT PERSON and knock on their damned door. Offer to help. Bake them a pie. DO SOMETHING.

The world is falling apart because we are all forgetting how to talk to each other. I don't care if you are rich or poor...although it seems the rich are much more guarded and unfriendly. Why is that? I believe that those who accumulate material wealth are trying to compensate for some shotcoming in their character development. Some enormous insecurity that has to be blanketed in "Stuff". They believe if they reach out instead of reporting, they will somehow be taken advantage of? Or maybe you feel as though you owe no one anything because of how hard you've worked for your wealth?

St. Lazare is a wealthy place, and not all of our most fortunate neighbours are as I described above. In fact this place seems to be a real dichotomy. I have met the very best people and the most disapointing. Or maybe my expectations about humanity are too high?

I believe certain things:
1- If you have allot...SHARE
2- If you see someone who needs help...HELP.
3- Leave the world better than when you arrived.

This is not complicated. Can you IMAGINE what kind of change would occur if EVERYONE lived by these three simple rules? wow.

My husband and I are very fortunate. We are FILTHY rich. Rolling in it. Friends, family, horses, good solid work, food in the fridge, beautiful amazing children and grandchildren, music, abundance and potential surround us every day. But we started off with nothing, and have found that our accumulations are valueless compared to the experiences born of love and compassion we have encountered along the way.

The worst times in our lives have been the best, because struggle seems to bring the hero out in us all.

Don't just sit there like little gossiping hens, with obviously nothing better to do with your time and report people for what you consider abuse.

Abuse? YOU WANNA SEE ABUSE?? I have seen abuse. Trust me...if you think what you're seeing is abuse...you are living a blessedly sheltered life.

You know who I am. So, call me...I will arrange to take you to a place that will make your toes curl. It will make you puke on your shoes. You will have nightmares for the rest of your life. And this place...we can't get closed down because the owner, although at a bare minimum, feeds and waters his animals.

The current legislation which exists in Canada is SIMPLY NOT ADEQUATE. Slowly but surely we will get change affected in this area.

However, if you are planning on investing your energies in a neighbour who gives their animals excellent care, but chooses the leave them outside in inclement weather...then your energies are being directed wrongly.

Put out your hand, learn to shut your mouth and put your best foot forward. HELP your neighbour. Be a good friend. For everyone's sake. The world needs less complainers...and more DOERS.

Peace,

Nightmare

Delayed but not dead...

Don't worry folks...Mr. Mayor has not completely let me down. I really had high hopes for this meeting today. I also know enough of you are so angry at him and at council and would like me to say...welll...what everyone else says. But everyone deserves a chance right? Just one chance.

I received a call today saying the Mayor couldn't make it to my farm. The horses were very sad and I had to throw out all those cookies I baked. Hmmm.

His secretary asked that I meet with him on Tuesday at 9:30, at HIS OFFICE (he insisted). Do we not like stepping out of our comfort zone of power into the vulnerable world of REAL?
Were the SQ too busy today to ensure that I wouldn't do something crazy...like...draw all over him? Remember the whole pen is mightier than the sword thing... I really DO believe that.

So no worries Mr. Mayor. I am happy to meet you in your office on Tuesday. I still hope you'll join us here to see what we're all about soon though.

Like I said...I have a juicy image changing proposal to make you. It's an offer YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO REFUSE. As many who know me will attest...I can be very convincing. :-)

Have a peaceful weekend all.

The Law of the Garbage Truck

I think this says it all...

Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.
We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.
My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded just missing the other car by inches!
The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy.
And I mean, he was really friendly.
So I asked, 'Why did you just do that?
This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call,

'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks.
They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and
full of disappointment.
As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes
they'll dump it on you.

Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.

Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...Love the
people who treat you right.

Pray for the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a blessed, garbage-free day!

City Council Meeting December 2 NEWS

Good day Mr. Mayor, citizens of St. Lazare, Mr. City Inspector and my crazy neighbour.
I attended this evening's council meeting with several friends and family members. It ended up being very interesting. I would say almost to the point where I will stand down...until further notice.

The beginning of the meeting was brutal. Where did you find that guy that reads the notices? Did you hire him on purpose because you will guarantee yourselves a quiet meeting every month since he only speaks in the key of Dm ALL THE TIME. It felt like chinese water torture. You should find some sexy half clad man who reads in a deep sensual voice...then all the women will attend and become interested in their city, and their husbands will also attend to ensure the sanctity of their marriages.

The second half of the meeting was an explosion of fun. Opinions regarding hunting laws (so did I get it right...? we CAN hunt in the municipality but only 300m from a residential property? Um ok...well the way development is happening in the region there will be no physical way to hunt :)

I am a tree hugging hippie as you now know having met me. BUT don't try and stop ALL the hunting. It would be cruel. We have destroyed habitat to such a large extent that if we don't cull the herds, deer will simply die of malnutrition, dehydration and simple lack of physical living space in a very short time. There has to be a grey area on this.

Now in regards to my previous evaluation of Mr. Mayor Carzoli...I will temporarily withdraw my accusations in lieu of making up my own mind about him not based on the kazillions of other people's opinions I have had. My apologies. I have invited him for tea...so I can make my evaluation, and he can make his. So far, so good. This blog will cease and desist from any further defamation of character. But be good! The pen IS mightier than the sword.

Speaking of the sword...did you guys really invite the SQ for me? I'm flattered! My father would be proud. He was abit of a hippie as well. :) Thanks. You shouldn't have.

I was very impressed with Mr. Levy. He is on his game. He is the only one who I saw a trying to listen to and represent his constituents.

As I said at tonight's meeting...your personal opinions simply do not matter. Once you are elected to any official position, your mouth should only open if and when your constituents deems it so. You can argue with them, try and convince them if you feel it is in the best interest of the populace...but you cannot dismiss them.

Too many laws, by-laws, tabled laws, committees, organizations, mandates...it has to stop! Look UP from your life for a few moments, and really truly reflect on why you wanted to become public servants. You did it originally because you wanted to help people, be a part of something, create an excellent community.

Is this still your intention? Or have you lost yourselves under POUNDS of uselss paper.

It is NOT in a governments's best interest to become so imbued in legistlative redundancies, that the community suffers. This WILL result in the loss of your positions.

So I challenge you tonight Councillors of St. Lazare; decide here and now to become ADVOCATES for your consituency. Become activists. Become heros.

It's so important. You know...this isn't just ANY town. THIS is St. Lazare.

More to come. I hope I'm making my best cup of tea on friday.

Peace out.

NOTE TO THE CITY: WHAT I DO ON MY LAND IS NONE OF YOUR GODDAMNED BUSINESS

It's amazing to me that no matter who I speak to in this community, everyone seems to have a personal horror story relating to the incompetency of our town government.

Today it was stories of council threatening individuals at last year's meetings with arrest? For what...expressing their opinions? Oh, this is going to be good folks. Council hasn't met THIS red head yet. I suggest you get a cell nice and toasty for me, because I don't believe that threatening citizenry even for being vociferously opposed to your idiocy is acceptable. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. Hell, I probably have friends in most jails. We can hang out and catch up on old times. Would you like to meet them Mr. and Mrs. Councillor? I'm sure they'd love to meet you.

I was speaking to a good friend and fellow farmette owner who lost the battle last year and her equestrian property was reverted to residential zoning. Now, she has two beautiful refuge horses that she and her husband have adopted. They take splendid care of these animals, and have really gone a long way to becoming terrific horse-owners.

She asked me a question today that really stumped me. She asked if I thought she would be ALLOWED to build a second shelter in her second paddock for her horses. You see, since her property is "grandfatherred" for horses, she CAN keep them, but the question arises as to whether or not she can make improvments to the property for their care, since new structures are not included in the "agreement".

At first when she asked me this, I started talking out the possibilities with her. How long would a "permit" take, who could she talk to, etc... Then I realized I had fallen into the trap! (I bet you're already debating in your head eh? hehe)

Well get this novel thought...

It's none of ANYONE'S BUSINESS what we do on our properties! MORAL law says...as long as we don't...

1) Harm ourselves
2) Harm each other
3) Harm the environment
4) Endanger someone else's ability to have life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness

How in God's name could a horse shelter damage a neighbour? Get a grip. Stop FOLLOWING just because it's all you know how to do! Take off your glasses...WAKE UP.

Do NOT use the word BI-LAW with me when discussing this. I will only tell you that these "bi-laws" that are mandated to keep the "appearance" of the municipality in line with the rest of the community are pure and simply horse shit. Without purpose. Brutish snobbery. A waste of our time.

It's none of ANYONE'S BUSINESS what we do with our land or our homes.

I am not concerned with appearances...not yours and not mine.

This brings me to the question of why the city will not allow farm owners with adequate acreage to put up domes to ride in for the cold months. This is an "appearance" mandate. Horseshit. None of your business.

I won't even say that I'd like to see a "law" which allows us to do this on the books. Nope. Because that would be lending credence to the law that disallows.

I will choose not to recognize this law. Nor will I recognize any other law which infringes upon my personal freedom to do and be whatever the hell I want:

I will promise my neighbours the following...and no more:
1) I will not throw my dog shit in your pool
2) I will not throw loud obnoxious parties and light fireworks near your horses
3) I will not allow my children to be outside screaming until 3:00 a.m.
4) I will not yell at your children
5) I will not do construction projects when you and I should be enjoying quiet time in the evenings.

I will also promise them...
1) I will continue to teach children how to ride
2) I will continue to ride my horses to music (c'mon...live a little!)
3) I will play my guitar outside during the afternoons and sing...loudly (you're lucky I'm not charging for the free gig you peons)
4) I will build my arena. It will probably be a dome.
5) I will leave my door open for you and your families to visit the horses and our barn

If this does not work for you...move back to Dollard. Cause we're not moving.

Have a nice

Night Mare.

PS: To my crazy-ass neighbour who kept complaining about my manure which I move 5 times a year...

I moved it. Just for you.
Look out your kitchen window.
Merry Christmas.
